[RED DEMOCRATICA] ANALISIS : OSI Forum: Organizing and Technology in the Obama Campaign

Related - Per my previous query -
http://groups.dowire.org/r/post/4JDAY4mkP2qekyHTirGUlB - I've traded a
couple of notes privately on how Obama's technology/organizing approach
could be applied to politically inclusive local "community problem-solving"
(which is probably different than more or less ideologically based
mobilization or organizing). At the local level, if you want to support
direct citizen action/volunteerism/problem-solving versus e-advocacy to get
government to do/fund/legislate something you need approaches that also
bring in more poiltically independent and conservative folks. Thoughts?:

For all the media hype, the Obama campaigns organizing strategy is
still not well understood. Organizer, writer, and Open Society
Fellow<http://www.soros.org/initiatives/fellowship/about>Zack Exley
led a conversation about how the Internet actually contributed to
efforts on the ground, what worked and what didnt, and how the organizers'
training and work was a radical departure from traditional electoral
politics
.

He discussed how the campaign borrowed strategies from the
community-organizing world and specific innovations that can be exported
back out to nongovernmental organizations. Exley also looked at what
activists inspired by the campaign are doing today.

Leonard Benardo, director of the Open Society Fellowship program, introduced
the event.
